Find Out How Old Your Woodburner Is

From 1 April 2010, the use of old woodburners (15 years and older) in Christchurch will be banned.

Below is a database of woodburners, pellet fires and other solid fuel burners in Christchurch Clean Air Zone 1 that had their building consent issued after 1 January 1993. From this database you can find out how old your burner is and whether you can still use it.

If the burner on your property is not on the list it is most likely that it is either more than 15 years old or has been installed without a building permit and you will not be able to use it during winter.

Search Tips
  • You must select your address from the drop down list.
  • For flats, apartments, townhouses, use this format:
    1-2b Three Street

Please note, if your woodburner was installed after 1 January 2003 it is likely to be a complying woodburner and not subject to the 15-year replacement rule so can currently be used indefinitely.
